First of all, I got all exhausted trying to find a 'nice sounding' 'easy to type address' for this blog. At last I gave up and you know what it ended up being...thats ok....... And I was wondering, what so special about "A Brief history of Time" by Mr.Stephen Hawking. One gets to see this book almost every where. You go to any book shop its always in the best sellers section, Almost every street book seller has dozens of it stacked. Any online shopping site has it listed as a best selling title ... every website which allows people to share ebooks has it, and if someone is tracking how many times this book is downloaded...the number should be mind boggling....if you are a ebook reader and has a desktop PC at your home, you are sure to have a copy in it....I too have one...never read past 4 pages....
Now why is it everyone seems to be interested in this book....is it because its thin ?...or is it because its cool to be seen with......or its available cheap?.....or is it because everyone has one, so do I? or is it because really everyone understands the book ??
Me confused....but should accept...Mr.Hawking has managed create a book...which is almost a dream for any writer.... An 'all time best selling ' 'most praised' 'most downloaded''most shared''most talked about'...but 'least read book'...on earth... I appreciate it Mr.Hawking, let me go refresh my physics, before I make one another attempt to read your book.
Now anyone who claims to have read and understood the book, please upload your Masters in Physics and PhD certificates.... otherwise I know you are one another...
Prabhu Sir,
ReplyDeleteCongrats, for reinventing yourself with the new blog !!
As far as book goes, i have the same story to tell-- Borrowed the book from my friend, but didnot read past first few pages. However, reading only few pages, I found the book written in very lucid and easy-to-understand language and not the Physics Jargons. If I am not wrong, Mr Hawkings mentioned somewhere in the Preface too, that he has written the book in such a way that a common man should be able to understand the book, and that he is writing a Popular Book!! So the Man has a good sense of humor too !!
For your writing, I am loooking forward to more posts regularly !
